Elizabeth (Beth) Harrop, PMHNP-BC, APRN

Areas of Focus: Medical Management, children age 6+, adolescents, adults

Beth Harrop is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and a Board-Certified Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse (PMHNP-BC). Beth is a graduate of the University of Utah’s psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program. She is board certified and experienced in treating clients of all ages across the lifespan with a specific focus on children and adolescents from age 6 and up.

She is experienced in working with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse disorders. She has many years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings.

She has a unique ability to connect with her clients and views mental health treatment as a collaborative effort. She is an advocate of the combined approach of psychotropic medication management and psychotherapy.

She has over ten years of nursing experience in psychiatry, women’s health and working in the juvenile justice system, as well as a Master Degree in School Guidance Counseling.

Anneliesa (Anna) Allred, PMHNP-BC, ARPN

Areas of Focus: Medication Management age 10+

Anna is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and also an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She graduated with a DNP from the University of Utah then went on to get her PMHNP post-Master’s certificate from Maryville University of St. Louis. She is board certified to treat all ages and part of her training was with our NP Elizabeth Harrop for more than a year.

Anna’s background is in critical care nursing and cardiology. She is excited to join our team and advocates a combined approach to treatment, including psychotherapy and medication.

Brenda Toone, DNP, FNP-BC, APRN

Areas of Focus: Mental Health Medication Management for children age 6+, adolescents, adults and Medical weight loss 

Brenda is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) and holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Weber State University. She loves connecting with clients and her goal is to follow evidence-based practice while working with patients to meet their goals. She prescribes medications to treat anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar and mood disorders, OCD, anger and oppositional behavior for clients across the lifespan. (ages 6 to adult). She has a special interest in both women’s and LGBTQ+ issues. Brenda has an additional focus in weight management, and prescribes Zepbound or Mounjaro (tirzepatide), Wegovy or Ozempic (semaglutide), phentermine, and other medications to help you reach your health goals. 

Her passion for mental health led to a doctoral project to improve depression screening at a women’s clinic, which was presented to an international research conference. Earlier in her career, she attended Brigham Young University, graduating as class valedictorian with a Bachelor of Nursing. Her nursing experience includes a seven-year focus on women’s health, both in hospitals and primary care. Brenda grew up in central Texas but has lived in Utah since her teen years. She loves all four seasons, because she can enjoy skiing with her friends and family in the winter and run half marathon races in the spring, summer, and fall. On her days off, you can catch her reading a good book on the back porch with a Dr. Pepper in her hand.

Elizabeth (Regan) Harwell, PMHNP-BC, APRN

Areas of Focus: medication management and healthy lifestyle choices in children and adults

Regan is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with eight years of experience as a registered nurse on multiple inpatient psychiatric units. She has advocated for those who struggle with a variety of mental illnesses, including suicidality, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, autism, oppositional defiant disorder, personality disorders, anxiety, and depression. Regan uses a holistic approach to mental health, with a combination of medications, psychotherapy, as well as health and wellness techniques in her practice.

She is originally from the South and obtained her MSN from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. She also has an advanced degree in elementary education from Mississippi State University and taught young children for twenty years before pursuing a career in nursing.

Shauna Cheshire, PMHNP-BC, APRN

 

Shauna is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) and is board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She graduated with a doctorate degree in nursing practice from the University of Utah, specializing in mental health.

Shauna provides mental health care for adolescents and adults. She is especially interested in caring for patients who have mental or emotional health needs before, during, or after the birth of a baby. She has been a nurse for over 25 years and spent most of her career as a labor and delivery nurse, childbirth educator, and a nurse in maternal-fetal medicine. She has long assisted women and families during her career and is excited to bring all her experience in women’s health to bear as a nurse practitioner.

Shauna has the ability to sit with people and help them feel safe and cared for. She believes sitting with a vulnerable person is a sacred opportunity. Her biggest goal is to build a relationship of trust with each patient. She strongly believes in shared decision-making with her patients and sees herself as a member of the patient’s healthcare team. She can provide medication management to optimize mental and emotional health and has training in psychotherapy as well.

Shauna was born and raised in Northern Utah. She is married and has four young adult children. Some of her favorite things to do are sing and perform, especially with her family. She also loves a good hike and watching nerdy documentaries.

ALISHA MILLS, LCSW 

Alisha is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who supports individuals in processing traumatic experiences, learning effective communication and boundary setting, navigating life stressors, working through spiritual and religious journeys, as well as anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions.

Alisha believes in a well-rounded approach where her clients are encouraged to advocate for themselves in a collaborative effort to reach goals and move forward in life.

Alisha utilizes many modalities in her practice including motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based stress reduction, guided imagery, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, and person-centered therapies.

Alisha earned her Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Utah State University and her Master of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma.  Alisha has enjoyed working in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, as well as working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, individuals on home care and hospice, the geriatric population, at-risk youth, and with children, parents, and caregivers involved with child welfare.

Sue Stephenson, CMHC

Areas of Focus: CBT, DBT, Trauma, Breath Work, Guided Imagery, Teens, Adults

TELEHEALTH ONLY 

Sue’s therapeutic approach includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma Focused CBT, sand tray, breath work, and guided imagery.

Sue can also help clients manage their lives using Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills. Sue sees both teens and adults. Sue works with people facing depression, anxiety, Greif & loss, mood disorders and substance abuse. She works with teens, adults and couples.

MARIE RUSHFORTH- NUTTALL, M.Ed., CMHC, BCETS

Marie is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and Advanced Grief and Bereavement Facilitator who has been licensed to provide counseling in the mental health field for more than 20 years. Formerly a Clinical Director of a residential facility and owner of an outpatient private practice clinic. Marie has experience with a wide range of clientele who have varying treatment needs. 

At Alliant Behavioral Health of Utah Marie uses DBT, Trauma informed CBT, EMDR, Bio/ Neurofeedback and experiential modalities as her main treatment modalities. Her clinical focus in on treating trauma, anxiety, self-harm, substance use, mood disorders, and chaotic interpersonal relationships and perceptions of self. Marie leads an active lifestyle and loves to box, camp, hike, stroll local art fairs and farmers’ markets and travel.

Douglas (Doug) Hopper, LMFT

Areas of Focus: CBT, Anxiety, Depression, Marital Issues, Individual and Couples 

Doug is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He has been practicing as a therapist for over 10 years. He has a passion for helping individuals connect with themselves, and couples to connect with each other, which stems from his belief that one of the antidotes to mental health issues is healthy human connection. He has a strong desire to help individuals find balance in their mind, body, spirit, life and relationships.  

Doug has extensive experience in helping individuals, couples, and families deal with substance abuse. His experience also includes couples therapy, family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, overcoming codependency, anxiety, depression, navigating divorce, narcissistic abuse syndrome, holding boundaries, rebuilding trust, improving communication and more.  

Doug helps clients to empower themselves and improve their lives by taking personal accountability while simultaneously employing self-compassion. He gives clients the space to express themselves and deal with hurt, without judgment, while also helping them gain awareness on how to implement solutions.

Georgann (Jann) Ranks, CMHC

Jann is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC). She has a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Westminster College and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Utah. She has treated a variety of individuals with mental health and/or relationship problems with a focus on trauma.

Jann has an array of experience in individual therapy and family therapy including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) for children who have trauma. She is experienced in leading substance abuse and process groups.

Lexy Kenison, MSW-I (She/Her)

Lexy is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Weber State University, with plans to graduate in April 2025. After graduation she plans to continue her practice here at Alliant Behavioral Health. Throughout her career thus far, she has had the privilege of working with the geriatric population in healthcare, providing in-home parental and youth development education, and supporting family systems as a whole and each member individually.

Lexy is passionate about helping individuals navigate women’s mental health concerns, postpartum challenges, anxiety, depression, relationship distress, religious journeys, and trauma. She also has experience working with clients managing ADHD, OCD, emotion regulation, and grief or loss. In her practice, Lexy primarily uses a holistic, whole-person approach that considers the social, emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of well-being. She also incorporates a strengths-based perspective to shift negative core beliefs, build self-confidence, promote helpful thinking, and support emotional stability.

Lexy’s style is straightforward, aiming to develop a therapeutic relationship that feels more like a friendship. She believes that through connection, shared emotions, and resilience, clients can uncover and heal parts of themselves that need love and acceptance. Her approach offers connection, compassion, humor, and a high level of support, welcoming imperfections along the way. Lexy believes there’s no “right way” to reach your goals; each person is unique and valuable. She is deeply committed to empowering individuals to recognize their inherent wholeness and worth.
